Asda to change promotion pricing tactics

Asda will change the way it uses promotions following a “super-complaint” filed to the competition watchdog by consumer group Which? over pricing.

According to Sky News, the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) said it had secured a commitment from the supermarket to change its deals that compare a current price with a previous one.

New rules being implemented by Asda will mean “now” prices are not advertised for longer than the “was” price applied, ensuring they are a meaningful comparison.
