Asda to open first 'high street' stores

Asda will open two smaller high street stores in Deptford and Wealdstone, both in London, which will have click-and-collect stations offering access to its clothing arm George.

The new smaller store format will be trailed in the next few months according to The Daily Mail and the shops will be 6,000 sq ft and 9,000 sq ft respectively.

The push by the supermarket comes as the grocers increasingly seek to increase their convenience store offers.
