Asos boss Beighton's earnings treble

Asos chief Nick Beighton has seen his pay package almost triple as the etailer’s sales and profits surge.

Beighton’s total pay leapt to £3.1m for the year to 31 August, compared with £1.2m for the previous year, it said in its annual report.

His earnings have soared as the etailer continues to enjoy financial growth. Retail sales at the etailer grew by 34% to £1.87bn on a reported basis for the year to 31 August, and up 27% on a constant-currency basis.

Gross profit for the year was up 33% on 2016, to £958.3m.

Asos said its results were “fuelled by “solid” UK sales and an “excellent” international performance, boosted by the drop in the pound’s value.
