Asos.com has confirmed the immediate promotion of chief operating officer Nick Beighton to the role of chief executive.
It follows news that Nick Robertson has stepped down from the business he founded 15 years ago.
Beighton joined the etailer in April 2009 as chief financial officer before becoming chief operating officer in October last year.
In April this year Asos appointed former Lloyds Banking Group finance director Helen Ashton as chief financial officer. She started in the role yesterday, on the same day news of Robertson’s departure broke.
“On behalf of everyone who works at Asos, I’d like to acknowledge Nick Robertson’s extraordinary achievement,” Asos chairman Brian McBride said.
“His passion and vision have built a start-up into a world class company. We are all delighted that Nick will continue to contribute to the company that he started.
“We are fortunate to have such an able successor for the CEO role in Nick Beighton. Nick has unique experience of the company built over six years, equipping him to drive Asos along its growth trajectory to become the world’s leading online fashion retailer for 20-somethings.”
