Asos, the etailer, said sales rose 47% in the six months to September 30, with profits “marginally ahead” of last year.
International sales soared 110% during the period, to represent 25% of its total sales for the period. It now ships to 114 countries worldwide, after adding 56 further countries during the period. It said that trading was in line with expectations.
The etailer now has 1.2m active customers compared to 890,000 at the same period last year.
Asos said that the highlights of the last half included the introduction of Gap and Mango to its site, both major international brands who do not currently have their own UK ecommerce offer. It has also added a menswear offer to its Outlet and has introduced free returns for its UK customers.
At the etailer’s AGM later today, chairman Lord Waheed Alli will say: “The results to date are in line with management’s expectations. We expect the first half outcome to be marginally ahead of the prior year and continue to view the outlook for the full year with confidence.”
