Asos launches visual search

Asos has launched a visual search tool that allows shoppers to search for a product using a photo.

The etailer has rolled the functionality onto its iOs app and it enables users to find products similar to one they have seen by taking a photo of the item or uploading a photo from their camera roll.

The visual search tool is shown as a camera icon on the app’s search bar. It scans through the business’s 85,000 products to find the best match.

The tool will be available on the Android app shortly.

Around 80% of traffic on Asos comes from mobile and almost 70% of UK orders are now made through a mobile device.

Andy Berks, Asos’s digital product director, said: “We know [mobile] is where our customers are and it’s how they interact with us every day, so we are always looking for ways that are mobile native to make their experience even better.”
