Averyl Oates heads to Galeries Lafayette

Former Harvey Nichols buying director Averyl Oates has been appointed fashion director and deputy commercial director of French department store group Galeries Lafayette.

Oates will oversee the men’s, women’s, accessories and kidswear departments.

She was most recently commercial director of luxury website Luxup, which she joined in May 2012. Luxup ceased trading in March.

Oates left Harvey Nichols at the end of 2011 after six years at the retailer. She has previously worked at Harrods as womenswear merchandise director, French luxury fashion house Emanuel Ungaro as global retail and merchandising director and as vice president of Donna Karan’s retail division.
