BAA aims to tempt Prada into Terminal 5

Prada is understood to be in talks with BAA to open its first airport store at Heathrow's Terminal 5.

BAA is hoping to attract the Italian designer brand as part of a raft of luxury fashion signings.

Harrods is understood to be close to signing a deal to anchor the scheme with a two-storey mini department store. If BAA signs Prada it will further raise the luxury credentials of Terminal 5, which has already attracted interest from brands such as Brooks Brothers and Mulberry.

BAA managing director for retail Colin Hargrave refused to comment on specific brands, but confirmed the company was in negotiations with several retailers.

Terminal 5 will open in March 2008. The shopping area will have 200,000 sq ft of retail space across 150 units.
