Womenswear also had a strong week up 23.2%, with John Lewis’ own brands JL & Weekend leading the way up 44.7%.
Online sales increased by 27.7% for the year, with online fashion sales up 40% for the week driven by the launch of new season products and customers moving towards cooler weather categories including knitwear and outerwear.
Operations director at John Lewis Dino Rocos said: “Back to School had its peak week online with good sales across clothing and shoes. As summer begins to fade, our focus turns towards warmer products and Christmas moves one step closer.”
