Luxury label Balenciaga is suing former creative director Nicolas Ghesquière following an interview in which he criticised the brand’s management, according to reports.
French business magazine Challenges said the label was filing legal charges against the designer for “breach of duty of confidentiality”.
The interview in question was published in System magazine, six months after Ghesquiere left the fashion house.
In the candid piece, Ghesquière revealed that he decided to leave the label because he “ended up feeling too alone”, and as though he was being “sucked dry”. He also accused the brand of “lacking in direction” and claimed that he had a lack of support from the business side of the relationship.
Ghesquière was succeeded by Alexander Wang as the label’s creative director and is yet to reveal his next move.
A spokesperson on behalf of the fashion house could not be reached for comment.
