Bank holiday boosts fashion sales

Bank holiday shoppers boosted fashion sales on the High Street last week, as warmer weather increased footfall.

Like-for-like fashion sales for the week to 4 June were up 5.9% on the same week last year according to the BDO High Street Sales Tracker.

Most of the growth was in clothing, which jumped 8.61% year-on-year, while footwear sales inched up just 0.4%.

This marks the second week in a row of increased fashion spending on the high street, as 76% of retailers reported positive sales compared to the same week last year.
