Bank store closures continue

Troubled young fashion retailer Bank will close a further 11 branches before March 15, meaning almost half of its stores will have ceased trading.

The stores are Clydebank, Ashton-under-Lyne, Hull, Telford, Bolton, Derby, Falkirk, Newcastle, Sunderland, Wakefield and Speke in Liverpool.

Last month the company closed 30 stores following its fall into administration.

The remaining 43 will continue to trade, as administrators from Deloitte continue to search for a buyer.

Originally, Deloitte said all 84 stores would stay open until the business was sold.

Several parties, including Little Mistress, Bestseller, Quiz and Footasylum have expressed an interest in snapping up all or some of the properties. Deloitte and estate agent Savills, which is handling the sale of Bank’s property portfolio, declined to comment on whether any deals have been signed.

Bank was sold by JD Sports Fashion to a subsidiary of Hilco Capital at the end of November last year. It filed for administration on January 5.
