The Barclay brothers are looking to cash in on record festive trading at their retail business Shop Direct by offloading a significant stake of the £2bn firm, it has been reported.
Sky News said the brothers, who also own The Telegraph, will finalise plans with advisers in the coming weeks, to pursue either a sale or a stock market listing.
Sources told the news service Sir David and Sir Frederick Barclay were still considering a range of options but were “almost certain” to pursue a Shop Direct transaction.
A spokesman for the Barclay brothers declined to comment on plans to Sky News, and Shop Direct declined to comment when contacted by Drapers.
Shop Direct operates the Littlewoods, Very and Very exclusive brands.
