Basler appoints head of UK retail

German womenswear brand Basler has appointed LK Bennett’s Martin Porter as head of retail in the UK, effective from November 1.

He will replace Valerie Symes, who has been at the company since 2009. Symes is leaving for personal reasons.

Porter is currently retail area manager at LK Bennett, having joined in September 2011. Before this he was senior manager of womenswear and fashion accessories at House of Fraser from January 2010 to September 2011 and regional outlet area manager for Burberry from 2003 to 2008.

Basler has 130 stockists in the UK, as well as three stores, 13 concessions and two outlets. Stockists include Anne Furbank in St Neots, Cambridgeshire, Fenwick’s Brent Cross and Newcastle stores and Ambers of Amersham, Buckinghamshire.

Andy Rowe heads up Basler UK’s finance. Robert de Keyser manages the wholesale business across the UK and Ireland.
