B&B to start tomorrow: Diesel and Replay absent

Streetwear trade show Bread and Butter will kick off in Berlin tomorrow with notable absences from denim giants Diesel and Replay.

The trade show will start at Tempelhof Airport in Berlin tomorrow and run until January 20 with with more than 600 brands expected to show.

Brands including Barbour, Ben Sherman, Denham, Fred Perry, Levi’s and Vans will exhibit at the event with buyers from both multiples and indies expected to visit.

However, Italian denim brand Diesel is not on the schedule for this season’s show, while streetwear brand Gio Goi, denim brand Replay and young fashion brand Religion are also conspicuously absent.

Across the industry, there’s speculation that absent brands are cost cutting or have plans to exhibit elsewhere.

According to a spokeswoman for B&B, Diesel will return for the July edition.

The spring 12 edition of the show last July had a strong international presence and although official numbers were not given, B&B said it was the best attended since it had returned to Berlin from Barcelona.

Drapers contacted Diesel, Gio Goi, Replay and Religion but none were available for comment at the time of publication.
