Belfast’s Victoria Square reaches £2bn sales

Northern Ireland-based shopping centre Victoria Square has hit the £2bn sales marks since it opened 10 years ago.

The 800,000 sq ft complex, based in Belfast, is celebrating its tenth anniversary today (6 March).

It hosts brands and retailers including Michael Kors, Karen Millen, JD Sports, Mango, Pretty Green and Hugo Boss.

It employs nearly 2,500 staff and has contributed around £7.5m in rates every year since opening, with owner Commerz Real estimating that more than £75m has gone into the local economy.

Anyi Hobson, senior asset manager at Commerz Real, said: “The significant investment Commerz Real has put into the destination and a well-executed, long-term leasing strategy has made it the city’s dominant retail and leisure destination.”
