Belfast's Victoria Square scheme opens

Victoria Square, the £400 million shopping centre development in Belfast, attracted 70,000 visitors on opening day yesterday.

The centre is anchored by a 200,000 sq ft new concept House of Fraser. The new look department store is the culmination of 18 months of planning by chief executive John King and the slick will come as a relief to suppliers who were asked to help pay for the repositioning of HoF via a complex set of discounts and tariffs. Suppliers have been promised the resulting uplift in performance at the group will boost their long-term sales.

The HoF store stocks Mulberry. Chloé and Kookai alongside its own labels Episode and Linea.

Cruise, the designer mini-chain, also opened a new concept store in the centre alongside a Hugo Boss franchise. The stores are in to adjoining units similar to its shops in Aberdeen.

Other openings at the centre included All Saints, H&M, Urban Outfitters, Geox and Tom Tailor.

  • I left my home town belfast 12 year ago, and I cannot believe the change.. The people of N.Ireland will flock to this, and they deserve it. Its about Time!!!! Gone are the days when one had to cram in shopping trips abroad. This is a great investment.
