Belgian investor snaps up stake in Burberry

Belgian billionaire Albert Frère has disclosed a 3% stake in Burberry, leading to speculation that he will push for measures to boost the company’s earnings.

Frère, a longtime business associate of LVMH chief executive Bernard Arnault, is buying into Burberry via Groupe Bruxelles Lambert, an investment firm that owns stakes in energy company Total and drinks provider Pernod Ricard, Bloomberg reported.

Frère also recently bought an undisclosed stake in Hugo Boss, and bought into Adidas in 2015.
