Ben Sherman appoints new chief executive

Men’s young fashion brand Ben Sherman has appointed Mark Maidment as its new chief executive officer.

Maidment, who has been with Ben Sherman since 2002, will fill the role left vacant by Pan Philippou who left the business in November last year.

Maidment has served as creative director of the brand since 2005 and has played a part in its premium repositioning.

Since Philippou’s departure last year, Tom Chubb, chief executive and president of Ben Sherman’s parent company Oxford Industries, has been acting as chief executive officer of the brand.

Chubb said: “Mark’s remarkable combination of creative vision, commercial practicality and executive acumen makes him uniquely qualified to lead Ben Sherman and its talented team. While much work remains to be done, with Mark’s appointment as chief executive officer we have taken a significant step on the path towards commercial success at Ben Sherman.”

Additionally Lindsay Dunsmuir, previously finance director, has been appointed as chief operating officer and Peter Lawley, global brand director, has been promoted to chief commercial officer.

  • A logical move and will be interesting how things differ when compared to his predecessor as the brand is at a crossroads.
