Ben Sherman owner buys premium brand house

Ben Sherman’s US owner, Marquee Brands, and Global Brands Group have bought the full portfolio of brands from BCBG Max Azria Global Holdings for $108m (£81.7m), five months after the brand house filed for bankruptcy.

BCBG brands include BCBG Max Azria, BCBGeneration and Hervé Léger. The company filed for bankruptcy in March and confirmed the news of the sale in a statement on its website.

Marty Staff, acting interim chief executive of BCBG Max Azria Group, said: “BCBG has accomplished its goal to remain a viable, creative and strong brand through the sale transactions with Marquee and Global Brands.

“I would like to thank the BCBG team and all parties involved for their hard work. While there is no question that this has been a difficult process, we can all be appreciative of the significant efforts made by so many stakeholders to agree to a path forward for BCBG and its employees.”

New York-based Marquee Brands bought Ben Sherman from US group Oxford Industries for £40.8m in July 2015.
