Beyond Retro gears up for own-label growth

Vintage fashion independent Beyond Retro has hired former Christopher Raeburn product manager Laura Dufort to the same role for the mini-chain’s own label.

Beyond Retro Label was launched in 2012 to produce clothing and accessories from reclaimed and vintage materials.

The collection, designed at the company’s headquarters in London and manufactured in India, is sold across 10 Beyond Retro stores in the UK and Sweden.

Dufort was product manager at Christopher Raeburn from 2011, having been a product developer at Burberry between 2007 and 2010.

Beyond Retro chief executive Steven Bethell, the creative director of the Beyond Retro Label, said: “Last year Beyond Retro Label made up 10%of our total sales and year-to-date that figure is at 20% and growing. Laura’s appointment and her talent are integral to the evolution, development and continued growth of Beyond Retro Label and I’m excited about how together we can make a positive contribution to how clothes are manufactured.”

Dufort said: “Having worked extensively with re-purposed garments and materials at Christopher Raeburn – a brand renowned for its ethical, environmental and innovative design – I’m excited about applying these principles and practices to Beyond Retro Label.”
