BFC announces Colleges Council Graduate Preview Day

The British Fashion Council has invited industry professionals to attend its Colleges Council Graduate Preview Day on April 28.

The annual open day will take place from 10.30am – 5pm at the Royal Institute of British Architects building, 66 Portland Place, London, with an awards presentation at 4.30pm.

More than 25 fashion colleges, all of which are members of Colleges Council, will be exhibiting portfolios of 2010 graduates’ work.

The event is open to fashion industry professionals from all disciplines including media, recruitment, retail, design, manufacturing, sales, marketing and PR to preview the work of graduating students who will be entering the job market later this year.

Colleges will be judged for three awards: The Drapers Awards for College Portfolio, Fashion Illustration and the WGSN Digital Presentation Award.

The Drapers College Portfolio Award will be awarded to the college that presents the best overall presentation of its students work, judged by a panel from the fashion industry, chaired by designer Anne Tyrrell. The winner and two runner up colleges will be featured in Drapers and also receive a 12-month subscription to the magazine.

The WGSN Digital Presentation Award will recognise colleges that use innovative digital media to reach new audiences and present their collections. The winning college will receive a WGSN subscription.

Last years winners were Edinburgh College of Art, which won the Fashion Illustration Award; The Royal College of Art, which picked up the Drapers College Portfolio Award; and University of Salford, which won the the WGSN Digital Presentation Award.
