BFC announces Designer Fashion Fund shortlist

Christopher Kane and Richard Nicoll are among the designers shortlisted for the British Fashion Council and Vogue Designer Fashion Fund.

Charlotte Olympia, E. Tautz, Jonathan Saunders, Nicholas Kirkwood, Osman and Peter Pilotto have all been shortlisted to receive the £200,000 fund and a mentoring support programme.

The aim of the fund, which is now in its second year, is to help British designers who have the potential for commercial growth to make the transition from a developing creative business to a global fashion brand.

The eight shortlisted designers have been invited to present their collections and future plans to a judging panel chaired by British Vogue editor Alexandra Shulman. The winner will be announced in March.

The fund was launched by British Fashion Council (BFC) chairman Harold Tillman in September 2008 as a part of the BFC’s 25th anniversary celebrations.

BFC chairman Harold Tillman, said:“The high level financial support and bespoke mentoring package will play a pivotal role in developing the winning designer business on an international platform”.
