BFC Colleges Council winners named

The Royal College of Art, University of Westminster and London College of Fashion were among the winners of the British Fashion Council Colleges Council Graduate Preview Day Awards, announced last Friday.

The Fashion Monitor Colleges portfolio award - for the strongest portfolio - went to the Royal College of Art, with the WGSN Digital Presentation Award going to the London College of Fashion. The BFC fashion illustration award was awarded to the University of Westminster.

The judging panel also gave Salford University a special mention for its level of visual representation and styling.

The annual graduate preview day saw 25 colleges from around the UK attend and showcase the portfolios of their graduating students. Their work was reviewed by a judging panel headed by chair of the Colleges Council Anne Tyrrell, and included Selfridges menswear buyer Adam Kelly; Hannah White, editor of Fashion Monitor; Jackie Ma, editor of trends accessories and footwear at WGSN and designer Marios Schwab.

Tyrrell said: “The calibre of this year’s portfolios has been excellent and demonstrates the breadth of talent of both the students and the colleges. The contacts the colleges gain from the day are extremely beneficial to their graduates and we’ve seen an incredible attendance here today.”
