The British Fashion Council (BFC) has opened applications for its 2012 BFC/Vogue Designer Fashion Fund which helps designers to become global brands.

One winner will receive £200,000 plus access to director level mentors across the industry. The winner and seven other shortlisted designers will also be featured in the March issue of Vogue as well as having access to a panel of business development and industry mentors for 12 months.

To be eligible for the scheme designers must have an established business, be based in the UK and have domestic and international stockists plus support from key media. Designers must submit their applications no later than November 14. The winner will be announced in February 2012.

The fund is now in its third year and was launched by BFC chairman Harold Tillman in September 2008. The first winner in 2010 was Erdem and the 2011 winner was Christopher Kane.
