The British Fashion Council (BFC) has unveiled the names of the designers shortlisted for the inaugural BFC/Vogue Designer Fashion Fund.
Designers David Koma, Huishan Zhang, Le Kilt, Marques’ Almeida, Molly Goddard and Rejina Pyo are in the running to receive a £200,000 cash prize and year-long mentoring programme.
The judging committee this year, chaired by British Vogue editor-in-chief Edward Enninful, will include BFC chief executive Caroline Rush, designer Erdem Moralioglu, Topshop boss Paul Price, Label/Mix creative director Gemma Metheringham, Harrods chief merchant Helen David, JD.com fashion president Xia Ding and Burberry chief marketing officer Sarah Manley.
The committee is rounded off by founder of skincare firm Rodial Maria Hatzistefanis, model Jourdan Dunn and BFC ambassador for emerging talent and Vogue Runway Sarah Mower.
The fund will be supported by China-based retail giant JD.com for the first time this year.
The shortlisted designers will be interviewed by the Fund Judging Committee on Thursday 15 March at London’s Mortimer House, with the winner announced on 8 May.
Previous winners include Moralioglu, Christopher Kane, Mary Katrantzou, Mother of Pearl, Nicholas Kirkwood, Palmer Harding, Peter Pilotto and Sophia Webster.
