Bhs forced to axe dog design

Department store group Bhs has removed product featuring a Scottie dog design from its stores after handbag and accessories brand Radley accused the retailer of copying its logo.

Radley, which uses the dog as a swing tag on its handbags, asked Bhs to remove a Scottie dog key ring from a gift pack it was selling.

Bhs removed the item this week but did not admit copyright infringement.

Radley has been taking extra measures to protect its brand, including hiring a legal team to challenge alleged copyright breaches.

Chief executive Roger Best said: “Protecting the purity of the brand is vital to its success”.
