BHS has closed its website and a new site will launch under new ownership from autumn.
Qatari retail group Al Mana struck a deal to buy BHS’s 70 international stores and its website for an undisclosed amount at the start of July.
The Doha-based company already owns the franchise to some BHS stores in the Middle East, where it also runs operations for Harvey Nichols, Zara and Mango. It is understood the 70 BHS stores are in 19 countries including Mongolia and Libya.
Philip Duffy and Benjamin Wiles, joint administrators of BHS, informed employees yesterday that the remaining UK stores will commence closing down Sales.
”It is anticipated that, failing any last-minute rescue attempt, the last stores will cease trading by Saturday August 20,” they said. ”There are no specific dates for the closure of [individual] stores yet.”
BHS had 164 stores when it collapsed into administration in April. A number have closed in the past few weeks.
