Bira Direct MD to retire next year

The managing director of Bira Direct, the subsidiary buying business for the British Independent Retail Association, is to step down after nearly 20 years.

Paul Woolley plans to retire next year and Bira Direct is now searching across the UK for a new managing director.

Woolley has held the Birmingham-based role since 1996.

The company, which has an annual turnover of £26m, said it had “ambitious plans for growth” under the new managing director, who will be tasked with developing and implementing a new commercial strategy.
