Blake Lively bags new Chanel campaign

American actress Blake Lively is the new face of luxury French brand Chanel and will appear in a campaign for the Mademoiselle handbag line.

The Gossip Girl star will appear in the campaign photographed by Chanel creative director Karl Lagerfeld, which is reported to be revealed in April. Lagerfeld called the actress “a kind of American dream girl”.

The Lagerfeld-designed Mademoiselle bag was unveiled at Chanel’s cruise show in Saint-Tropez last May. The oblong-shaped model comes in five sizes, each with Chanel’s iconic chain handle and quilted surface. The bag retails from about €1,500 to €2,500 (£1,277) to (£2,128). Lively said: “Though I am the face of it, I will carry it like every girl.”

Lively follows in the footsteps of British singer Lily Allen who fronted Chanel’s Coco Cocoon line in 2009. Japanese actress Rinko Kikuchi, French actress Anna Mouglalis and German actress Diane Kruger have all previously appeared in Chanel handbag campaigns.
