Nigel Blow joins Al-Fayed's clothier Turnbull & Asser

Industry veteran Nigel Blow is to be managing director of Ali Al-Fayed’s luxury clothier Turnbull & Asser.

Blow has spent the last six years in Dublin, firstly at Brown Thomas before joining Arnotts, shortly after it had been taken over by Anglo Irish Bank and Ulster Bank in 2010.

In his new role Blow returns to London – where he spent 14 years of his working life at Harrods – reporting into his former boss’s brother.

Blow said: “I very much look forward to working alongside James Fayed  to lead the strategy for the development and expansion of the brand. T&A is a truly authentic brand with 128 years of heritage and a unique ‘Made in Britain’ brand proposition, which singles it out amongst its peers in the luxury sector.”

At the same time he is stepping back from his current role as chief executive of Irish department store Arnotts, taking on the chairmanship from Mark Schwartz with immediate effect.

Blow will be leading the search for a new chief executive, with chief operating officer Ray Hernan taking on a directorship and joining the board.
