Blue Inc increases Christmas like-for-like sales by 2.8%

Blue Inc has reported like-for-like sales for the five weeks from to January 4 increased by 2.8%.

Chief executive Steven Cohen said Black Friday drew sales forward, as has been widely reported by other retailers. “We offered selected and targeted promotions rather than a full-scale event, which worked to build up to Christmas in a managed way.

“I’m pleased we stayed at full price until Boxing Day, when we started our Sale. Boxing Day itself was on the quiet side, but the period around it was busy as expected.”

In December, the menswear and boyswear retailer raised £4m in funding, which it will use to increase its online market share and drive the growth of its Twisted Soul brand.

The retailer, which has 240 stores in the UK and five overseas under the retail fascias Blue Inc and Officers Club, plans to launch an online marketing campaign during the first quarter of this year.
