Bluewater shopping centre has launched its first television advertising campaign for four years today.
Bluewater's new Christmas campaign, which includes TV, press and radio adverts, broke this morning during GMTV.
The campaign sees a return to the original drop of water used to launch the Bluewater shopping centre in March 1999.
Bluewater's return to television advertising comes just one week after the Westfield London shopping centre opened. Westfield London knocked Bluewater back one place to eighth in the CACI shopping centre rankings which were published last week.
A spokesman for the centre denied that the launch of the campaign was a direct response to the opening of Westfield London but he added: "We need to keep Bluewater front of mind over Christmas. What with the credit crunch - when people think of spending they need to think of Bluewater."
Bluewater general manager Andrew Parkinson said: "Bluewater's return to television advertising is long overdue and I am delighted that we are back with a powerful brand-led campaign."
He added: "The challenge for all retail destinations this Christmas will be driving footfall and consumer spend, but we are confident that existing and potential guests alike will find the new creative highly motivating."
