Kent shopping centre Bluewater is bracing itself for its busiest weekend of the year as consumers take advantage of the last shopping weekend before Christmas.
The shopping centre is anticipating around 275,000 visitors over Saturday and Sunday.
Robert Goodman, Bluewater’s general manager, said: “With this weekend being the last chance for many people to complete their Christmas shopping, we are expecting Bluewater to be very busy. Key sellers will be fashion, gifts and, reflecting the last minute shopping of some guests, lingerie and jewellery.”
Since December 10 Bluewater has been open until 11pm six days a week. The extended opening hours have seen the carparks at Bluewater at 50% capacity at 9pm every night.
Last weekend Bluewater shopping centre saw its busiest weekend of the Christmas season so far with over 240,000 shoppers visiting on the penultimate weekend before Christmas.
Footfall at the shopping centre was up 6% on the same weekend last year and on Saturday was up 8.4% on the same day last year.
