Bluewater’s September sales spark expansion

Luxury accessories brand Montblanc has chosen Kent shopping centre Bluewater as the place to house its first south eastern shop, while Gant is doubling the size of its existing store to create a new flagship.

The plans follow figures released last week revealing Bluewater’s September sales were up by 6.6% on last year.

The Montblanc store will be located on the Upper Rose Gallery and is expected to open in time for Christmas. It will stock leather accessories alongside Montblanc’s renowned luxury watches and pens. The brand currently has UK stores solely in London.

Joanne Webster, the store’s director, said: “Bluewater is the perfect location for Montblanc’s first boutique in the south east.  It is a high quality destination with a great reputation and a very strong appeal amongst our customer base.”

Montblanc is the second brand to be added to Bluewater’s store directory this week as underwear label, Bjorn Borg, opens the doors of its first UK store in the centre tomorrow.

In addition, Swedish lifestyle brand Gant’s 5,600 sq ft flagship will open on the Lower Guildhall, again in time for the seasonal shopping surge, and has relocated to a temporary space, next to John Lewis, while the expansion takes place.
