Bonmarché has appointed Helen Connolly, senior buying director for George at Asda, as its new chief executive.

Helen Connolly

Connolly will take up her new post later in year. She replaces Beth Butterwick, who is leaving Bonmarché to join Karen Millen

Connolly began her career as a buyer at Next in 1995 and stayed until 2003, when she first joined George as womenswear buying manager.

A stint as head of buying at Dorothy Perkins followed from 2006 to 2008, before she rejoined George as a senior buying director. She is currently responsible for all women’s clothing, non-clothing and male and female essentials.

Bonmarché chairman John Coleman said: “Helen’s expertise in buying, merchandising, sourcing, product, and business development is first-class, and she has demonstrated a dedicated focus on delivering a high quality consumer experience. We look forward to welcoming her to Bonmarché and working with her to deliver further progress for the brand and the company.”
