Bonmarché appoints new product director

Bonmarché has appointed Geraldine Higgins as product director, replacing buying director Caroline Cotton.

She is now responsible for driving the value womenswear retailer’s product strategy and working with the trading board to implement the broader company strategy.

She was most recently brand director at Monsoon from November 2012 to June 2015, and was head of womenswear at Sainsbury’s Tu from May 2011. She has previously held roles at Etam, Matalan, BHS, Tesco, Primark and Dunnes Stores.

Outgoing chief executive Beth Butterwick, who will join Karen Millen in the same role when a successor is found, said: “We are looking forward to leveraging Geraldine’s knowledge and experience in this critical area of our business.

“Her wealth of experience means she is well-placed to support us in the development of our modernisation process.

“To deliver this, she will focus on both current and new sourcing opportunities to ensure Bonmarché continues to offer customers contemporary, style-appropriate, good quality products at fantastic prices.”

Cotton’s next move is not known.
