Boxpark to launch in Croydon

Pop-up mall Boxpark will open a second branch next to East Croydon train station in the summer of 2016.

The new Boxpark at Ruskin Square will include 80 units and has been designed by Gavin Elliott of architecture practice BDP. It is though the development will create 200 new jobs, as well as apprenticeship opportunities with Croydon College.

The scheme is launching in association with Croydon Council, Schroder UK Real Estate Fund (SREF) and Stanhope.

In total the Ruskin Square scheme will create up to 1.25 million sq ft of office accommodation, 625 new homes and more than 100,000 sq ft of retail, café and restaurant space.

Boxpark’s founder and chief executive Roger Wade said: “I want everyone to re-think their view of Croydon. It’s the home of Kate Moss, Tracey Emin, and now Boxpark.”

The first Boxpark opened in Shoreditch, east London, in late 2011.
