BRC predicts lingerie spend will fall this year

Shoppers are expected to spend less on lingerie this Valentine's Day, but general clothing spend is set to rise, according to the British Retail Consortium. The company says £87 million will be spent on lingerie - £5m less than last year - while £119m will be spent on clothing - £4m more than in 2006. The retail sector's share of Valentine's Day spend is set to rise to £1.32 billion, from £1.2bn last year.
