Bread & Butter brands play it safe with trends

Trends at the Bread & Butter exhibition in Barcelona have been on the safe side so far, with denim collections to cover all bases, industrial-look influences and only some 80s inspired styles.

Denim on show is light and distressed while lumberjack check shirts for men, leather workwear-inspired industrial jackets and wool pea coats are also key.

A colour palette of burgundy, purple, peacock blue and classic autumnal shades feature.

For women the rock and roll trend is still prevalent with hard leather jackets and slick skinny jeans on show alongside prom dresses and chunky knits.

There are fewer references to the 80s trend seen at previous shows.

However, the mood at Bread & Butter has dipped this morning after an optimistic start yesterday.

Exhibitors told Drapers that the show’s Denim Hall had a good attendance on stands yesterday, however those in the Street & Sport hall had a quieter day.

Rumours have grown about the show’s potential move to Berlin. Some UK buyers said they would welcome a move, claiming it would add an element of newness to the format.

Organisers have yet to comment on the speculation.
