Bread & Butter names creative director

Embattled trade show Bread & Butter Berlin has appointed fashion designer Haman Alimardani as its creative director.

In the newly created role, Alimardani will be responsible for the presentation of the trade show, which will next take place at Airport Berlin-Tempelhof from July 7-9.

Alimardani has designed for Kenzo, Nike and Porsche under his own label. He started his career as a DJ and graffiti artist, studying graphic design in Munich before completing a degree in fashion design at the Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design in London in 2004.

As well as working as an assistant to designer Kostas Murkudis, the Iranian has also been a guest speaker at the Parsons New School of Design in New York and lectured at the Miami Ad School in Brooklyn and AMD Academy Fashion Design in Munich.

Earlier this month, Bread and Butter announced it was offering exhibitors an “early bird rate” if they register before April 15. It followed months of setbacks, including cancelling the autumn 15 edition, leaving brands owed thousands, and being declared insolvent in December 2014. As a result, the July edition is being organised under a new company called Bread & Butter Tradeshow.
