Bäumler rescued in joint venture by Berwin & Berwin and UK agent

German menswear brand Bäumler has been rescued from administration by suit specialist Berwin & Berwin and Baumler’s UK agent Jason Gerrard.

The duo have bought the brand name and the Bäumler spring 10 order book from administrator Martin Prager of Pluta Rechtsanwalts for an undisclosed sum.

Spring 10 orders destined for Bäumler’s 150 UK stockists will be put into production as planned following the rescue deal.

Gerrard, along with the brand’s network of northern European agents, will oversee the design and sales of the brand, while Berwin & Berwin will oversee operations and manufacturing.

Gerrard said: “When Bäumler initially revealed their difficulties I was shell shocked, but soon decided that this had to be an opportunity to return the business to clothing people and sensible management.”

Bäumler filed for insolvancy in September after its bank GMAC Commercial Finance refused further credit.
