Burberry appoints non-exec director

British luxury brand Burberry has appointed Telefónica chairman Matthew Key as a non-executive director.

Key, who is currently chairman and chief executive of Telefónica Digital, part of Spanish broadband and telecommunications provider Telefónica, will join the board with effect from September 1.

Key previously worked at Telefónica Europe (formerly o2), Vodafone and Kingfisher.

Chairman John Peace said: “We are delighted to welcome Matthew to the board. His deep knowledge of digital and mobile, coupled with his extensive experience of building compelling consumer brands, will be tremendous assets as we embark on the next phase of Burberry’s global growth.”
