Burberry wins Walpole British luxury brand of the year award

Burberry was named luxury British brand of the year at Walpole’s annual awards last night (November 15).

Walpole, a promotional organisation for the British luxury industry, also handed the luxury brand and retailer the accolade for British luxury brand online.

Contemporary womenswear brand Erdem picked up the award for emerging luxury brand, while classic men’s lifestyle brand Hackett picked up the award for British luxury brand overseas.

Julia Carrick, chief executive of Walpole, said: “This year’s award winners represent the very best of global luxury talent and we are delighted to be able to recognise their exceptional achievements.

The awards, which were presented by British actor Hugh Bonneville, were held at Banqueting House in London’s Whitehall. Angela Ahrendts, chief executive of Burberry, was on hand to collect the brand’s awards, as was Hackett chief executive Vicente Castellano and Erdem founder Sara Moralioglu.

  • For more on Burberry but their missed business opportunity, this is quite interesting and a consideration should the brand wish to expand in awards!
