Business groups demand urgent Brexit agreement

The Government has been urged to secure a transition out of the European Union that is ‘as close as possible to the status quo’ by five leading business lobbying groups.

In a letter to Brexit secretary David Davis, organisations including the British Chamber of Commerce and the Federation of Small Businesses demanded an ‘urgent agreement on transition arrangements’ to give businesses time to prepare, according to Sky News.

The groups asked ministers to maintain the UK’s existing participation in the single market and the current terms of the customs union.
