Call for entries to UK Fashion Export Awards

The closing date for the revamped UK Fashion Export Awards 2009 is March 10.

The Awards have been revamped this year to enable a broader spectrum of companies to enter and to better reflect the products that are in demand from international buyers.

Four new categories have been introduced: High Octane Glamour, Heritage, Footwear and Retailer of the Year. Both traditional bricks and mortar stores and etailers are invited to enter the Retailer of the Year category.

Other categories which are open to all menswear, womenswear and kidswear companies include: Accessories, Contemporary, Designer Business, Directional, Footwear, Lingerie/beachwear and Small Business (for a company with sales of under £500,000 annually).

The winners will be announced at an Awards lunch on June 4 in London.

UK Fashion Exports executive director Paul Alger said: “The 2009 Awards provide a platform to celebrate the success of those fashion companies that still manage to attract the attention of international buyers looking to inject exciting and innovative designs into their stores despite the economic climate and exchange rate fluctuations.”

“Being shortlisted for, or even winning, one of these Awards, is a great boost to company morale and tells the world that the company is a serious world-class exporter.”

UK Fashion Exports, is the export division of the British Clothing Industry Association.
