Calling all fashion retailers...

Caroline Nodder

For the first time, Drapers is undertaking a comprehensive survey of the fashion retail market so that we can fully understand the challenges faced and get an accurate view of how the sector is performing in these tough trading times.

For the first time, Drapers is undertaking a comprehensive survey of the fashion retail market so that we can fully understand the challenges faced and get an accurate view of how the sector is performing in these tough trading times.

We have a questionnaire which we are asking all of you who work in retail to fill out over the next two weeks. The results will form the basis for the Fashion Retail Market Report, an exclusive, in-depth look at business in 2012 from all angles, to be published in Drapers magazine and online at the end of March.

We can’t get under the skin of the issues you face without your input so I do hope you will all take the time to respond to the survey to make it as comprehensive as possible. We want to hear from multiples, indies and etailers from all corners of the industry. In return we pledge to share our findings with you in full.

Also in this issue you will find another Drapers first – our Textiles Report supplement, giving you an insight into some of the issues surrounding the textiles market at the moment as well as some of the key fabric trends coming through for spring 13. This signals Drapers’ increased commitment to the textiles market, which is a thriving sector too often overlooked. With texture and colour and heritage fabrics currently so in vogue with designers and consumers, sourcing the right fabric has never been so important, so we hope you find our guide useful.

I’m looking forward to a busy week ahead including the Inspiring Indies party at Pure London on Monday. We hope to welcome 400 indies, brands and multiples at Kensington Roof Gardens for the unveiling of our annual list of the top 100 indies in the UK. See you there!
