The Cambridge Satchel Company has appointed Globetrotter’s Mark Fitzpatrick as the first UK general manager for its manufacturing facility in Leicestershire.
Fitzpatrick will have overall responsibility for the 90 skilled workers at the 30,700 sq ft factory, which opened this June.
It is the first large-scale production unit for the five-year-old brand, enabling it to increase production threefold to support the collection’s international expansion.
Previously Fitzpatrick was general manager at heritage luggage company Globetrotter for three years.
Cambridge Satchel Company founder Julie Deane said: “I’m extremely passionate about supporting British manufacturing and ensuring the longevity of leather craft in this country. By taking on a new gneral manager we are hoping to grow the team, and their expertise, to ensure we are consistently producing first-class leather satchels. ”
