Cambridge Satchel Company to launch on Tmall

The Cambridge Satchel Company will launch on China’s Tmall marketplace next month, in a deal that came about after founder Julie Deane accompanied Prime Minister David Cameron on a trade trip to the country last year.

It comes after the company opened its new flagship store in Covent Garden this week, which houses the head office and a showroom.

A new management team has been put in place over the past year: Anne Cunliffe is the head of global wholesale; Mario Muttenthaler is chief marketing officer; Jonny Wooldridge is chief technology officer; Sarah Adams is senior merchandise manager; and Rose McNamara is product development manager.

Deane said she was now on the lookout for someone “with international development talent, as that is something we are focusing on”.

She also revealed the company plans to launch two pop-up stores in the UK in the run up to Christmas, but the locations have yet to be confirmed. “It will be a very fast turnaround,” she explained.
