The Cambridge Satchel Company will open a 3,239 sq ft six-storey flagship in Covent Garden on October 7, Drapers can reveal.
The store, at 31 James Street, will comprise two floors of retail on the ground and basement floors, a showroom on the first and offices on the second, third and fourth floors. Staff will be relocated from the Cambridge head office.
A spokeswoman said the store design, created by architects Househam Henderson, had been “four months in the making”. “This is a real coming of age for the brand,” she added.
The company already has a 1,069 sq ft store at 15 Short Gardens in Covent Garden, which opened in February 2013 after a pop-up there in December 2012. Its first permanent store, it features an embossing service and bloggers’ lounge.
The original store will remain open “for the time being”.
The brand also has a 581 sq ft store at 17 Rose Crescent in Cambridge, which opened in June 2013.
